After my epic trip into Hang Son Doong, the world’s largest cave I opted to stay in the jungle village of Phong Nha bordering the national park. I was in no rush to travel through Vietnam’s central and southern hot spots so Toby, a German friend from last week’s trek, joined me in motorbiking around.
The dirt roads turned out to be a great refresher for my ride from Hue City to Hoi An. We stopped at the Elephant Springs for a dip and cruised over the mountains via the Hai Van Pass. Coming down the mountains I lost my group but luckily had gps on my phone and an exciting ride through Danang city’s unmarked traffic circles brought me to my hostel.
I’ve been staying in Hoi An since and enjoyed some quality beaches, great food and (unlike myself) shopping! Hoi An is famous for its custom tailoring and I took full advantage inbetween snorkeling and biking around the old town. Tonight is a full moon lantern festival and I fly to Saigon (Ho Chi Mihn City) tomorrow.
More details and pictures to come in the next few weeks when I’m home at an actual computer!
