Hi, I’m Mike, thank you for reading my blog! I hope you enjoy following my adventures as much as I enjoy having, photographing and writing about them!
I recently returned to the United States after living in Seoul, S. Korea for 4 years. I arrived in Anchorage by way of an 8-month detour through China, India (where my 3000km stead was a bit rickety) Nepal and Vietnam (where I hosted a national television show!)
I love teaching and traveling and happily do both as much as possible. My first winter in Alaska was spent chasing the Aurora Borealis and this summer I’m taking my drone into the mountains as much as possible! Wish me luck because you’ll get to see them here on LiveTravelTeach.com and on my Instagram too!

August 2017
It’s been 4 years since I left North America and I’ve been back once for 3 weeks over the holidays. There’s so much to figure out but my plan is to focus primarily on building Live, Travel, Teach into a full functioning travel magazine with a lot planned for the next few months. I’ll also be exploring Alaska on a hunt for the Aurora Borealis and all the other natural beauty that this state has to offer. Here is my invite to you to follow me on this all-new American adventure!
Don’t forget to subscribe and follow me along this journey with Live, Travel, Teach! For those of you who’ve loved all my Asian Adventures don’t fret. I’ve still got dozens of updates about my backpacking trip and much more in the backlog from other trips.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m Mike and this is my blog. I started blogging soon after I accepted a job to teach in Korea back in 2013. Before that I spent my first 5 years after college in New Jersey as an elementary teacher, special ed teacher, and fencing coach. Since then I’ve been saving as much as I could to travel around the world. You’ll find all kinds of adventures through South East and East Asia here on LiveTavelTeach.com. Just head over to the “Travel” section at the top of this page and enjoy!
I arrived in Seoul, South Korea on August 2013 and started teaching the next day! After only a few weeks it turned out my school was actually embezzling the tuition money so our paychecks stopped coming and things got a little crazy. I was on the other side of the world in a foreign country. So naturally, I quit and somehow found an amazing new job.
I’ve been to 20 countries and am excited to explore the rest of the world!
Shortly after the new job began I discovered Seoul Hiking Group and explored every nook and cranny of South Korea! The next 4 years took me on dozens of adventures to popular destinations in Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam. I swung through Taiwan twice and spent 3 weeks in Indonesia. At some point, I hopped on two planes to Japan too. and finished by backpacking China, India, Nepal, and Vietnam.
But when I say backpacking I really mean driving a glorified lawnmower across India, spending a month in the Himalayas and another month photographing endangered rhinos, elephants, and even tigers! I might have also bought a motorcycle and driven it 2500km across Vietnam.
If you’re interested in working with me please fill out a contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as I have internet!

Hi Mike,
I’m going to try to keep up as you blog away–glad you are enjoying a new land and culture. I’ll tell Chris and Sam to take a look–they were born there but have never visited.
Best of luck and enjoy each day.
Love,
Barbara
