I just came across this quote and it sums up much of my feelings about making the commitment to teach abroad.  It was one of the most difficult choices I’ve had to make even with only being here for 7 weeks but I can already tell it was an excellent decision.

In these short weeks I’ve met amazing people and explored a culture that has brought me joy and surprises at every turn.  Learning a new language and teaching ESL presents me with new hurdles each and every day and I embrace all of the challenges as a chance to learn and grow.

I am fortunate enough to have a loving and supportive family on this journey and am writing this as my brother, Ben, packs for home.  He spent about 2 weeks in Asia with a brief stint in Japan.  It has been great seeing him here and I can’t wait to share all our adventures together in my next few posts!

Whoever you are, if you are reading this I hope that you take the next step on the adventure that is your life.  Don’t settle for the ordinary; for the easy.  Look for what you’ve dreamed of and dedicate yourself to turning that into a reality.  It won’t be easy and in fact sometimes it might be downright scary but in the end we both know you’ll be glad you did it!
