Boracay is only about 7 km long and barely 1 km wide, but I still didn’t run out of things to fill my days there. I went for New Year’s: cliff jumping at Ariel’s Point, buying peanuts and fOakleys off beach vendors, riding a motorbike up to Mt. Luho with a driver named Kokoy who massively overcharged me and was worth every peso. Here’s the full list: what I actually did, plus what I’d add if I went back.

- FAQ
1. Cliff Jump at Ariel’s Point
The best day of my trip, easily. Ariel’s Point is a private cove you can only reach by boat, with jump platforms at 3, 5, 10, 12, and 15 meters. I made it up to the top board eventually. The climb up was worse than the jump itself. Most packages throw in the boat ride, unlimited drinks, a meal, and snorkel gear, so the price tag covers a lot more than just the jumping.

2. Watch the Sunset on White Beach
Boracay’s sunsets are the real deal, not just a line from a brochure. I still have photos from White Beach that people ask about years later, the sky going through every shade of orange and pink while the outrigger boats sit silhouetted on the water. Grab a drink, find a spot on the sand, and just watch. No booking, no cost, and it’s genuinely one of the best things about the island.

3. Watch the Kitesurfers at Bulabog Beach
Bulabog sits on the opposite side of the island from White Beach and gets the wind White Beach doesn’t. I spent close to an hour just standing there watching kitesurfers loop across the water. Didn’t try it myself, but it’s an easy way to spend a morning. Lessons are available if you do want to try; the first block is mostly spent learning to handle the kite on land before you get near the water.

4. Try Balut from a Street Vendor
A guy walked past us on the beach one evening with a cooler full of balut (a boiled, fertilized duck egg, yes, it’s exactly what that sounds like) and we bought some on the spot. It’s one of those things you either try once for the story or actively avoid, and I’m glad I didn’t overthink it. If you see the cooler go by, that’s your chance.
5. Walk White Beach End to End
I spent a big chunk of my time just wandering the length of White Beach, past the resorts, the boats, the vendors selling sunglasses and hats. Station 1 is quieter and upscale, Station 2 is loud and packed with restaurants and bars, Station 3 is laid-back. Walking all three back to back is the fastest way to figure out where you actually want to spend your time.

6. Hike Up Mt. Luho
Mt. Luho is the highest point on the island, and it’s the one spot that actually shows you how small and narrow Boracay is. You can see White Beach and Bulabog Beach from the same viewpoint. Get up there by tricycle or motorbike, pay the small entrance fee, and either walk back down or take the zipline if you want to skip the return hike.

7. Hunt Down Boracay’s Food Specialties
Beyond balut, a few dishes and drinks are worth tracking down specifically: chori burger (a chorizo patty burger, common street food across the island), chicken inasal, halo-halo for something cold, and a fruit shake from Jonah’s, which has been a Boracay staple for years. Lechon (whole roast pig) still shows up as the centerpiece at bigger meals and buffets, and it’s worth ordering if you get the chance.

8. Sail on a Paraw at Sunset
Didn’t get to this one myself, and it’s the thing I’d book first if I went back. A paraw is a traditional outrigger sailboat, no engine, just wind. You go out as the sky turns orange, usually for 30-45 minutes, either on a shared boat or a private one if you want to split the cost with fewer people.
9. Go Island Hopping
Boat trips out of Boracay usually loop through a few nearby spots. Crystal Cove and Crocodile Island come up the most, along with a stop at Puka Beach. Mix of snorkeling and just sitting on a boat between stops.

10. Spend an Afternoon at Puka Beach
North end of the island, and a totally different feel from White Beach: longer, quieter, named after the shells that used to wash up there in piles. Good place to go if White Beach starts feeling crowded.
11. Snorkel or Scuba Dive
Crocodile Island and Yapak both come up a lot as dive spots near Boracay, with decent coral and a wide range of fish. Operators run trips for both certified divers and complete beginners.
12. Browse D’Mall and D’Talipapa
D’Mall (Station 2) covers most of the shopping and casual dining on the island. Next door, D’Talipapa is a wet market where you pick your own seafood off the ice and a nearby stall cooks it for you. More fun than it sounds, and a nice break from restaurant menus.
13. Go Parasailing
A few minutes above the water gets you a completely different view of White Beach and the coastline. Short sessions, most operators run right off the main beach.
14. Ride a Banana Boat
Standard beach activity across the Philippines, and Boracay’s no exception: an inflatable towed behind a speedboat, everyone falls off eventually. Cheap and stupid in a good way, especially with a group.
15. See the Nightlife Around Station 2
Most of the bars, live music, and fire dancing shows cluster around Station 2. Worth a walk-through after dinner even if you’re not planning a late night. The energy alone is something to see.
16. Get a Henna Tattoo
Beach vendors up and down the main strip do these. Pick a design or bring your own idea. Fades in a couple of weeks, so lower stakes than it sounds.
17. Book a Massage on the Sand
Small stalls along White Beach run massages right on the beach, usually well under what a resort spa charges. Good way to recover between the more active days.
18. Snap a Photo at Willy’s Rock
A volcanic rock formation just off the shore near Station 1, with a small shrine built into it. Quick stop rather than an activity on its own, but easy to fold in if you’re already walking that stretch.
19. Ride ATVs and Zorb on the Mainland
A combo tour that runs across the water on the Aklan mainland: ATVs through rough inland trails, then rolling downhill inside a giant inflatable ball (that’s the zorb part), sometimes with a kawa hot bath thrown in to unwind afterward. If the motorbike ride up to Mt. Luho was your kind of fun, this is the bigger version of it.
20. Visit the Motag Living Museum
Smaller and less visited than most of this list, focused on traditional rural Filipino life. Good option if you want a break from beach activities without leaving the island.
21. Pick Up Pasalubong Before You Leave
Pasalubong is the Filipino tradition of bringing something back for the people at home, and Boracay’s got a few go-tos: calamansi muffins, dried mango, puka shell jewelry (bought, not picked off the beach, that part’s actually against the rules), and handwoven bags made from pandan or abaca. D’Mall and D’Talipapa both work for this.
FAQ
What’s the best free thing to do in Boracay?
Watching the sunset on White Beach. Costs nothing and it’s the thing people remember most.
Is Boracay good for non-beach activities?
Yes. Mt. Luho, the ATV and zorb tour, the Motag Living Museum, and the local markets all give you a reason to leave the sand for a few hours.
How many days do I need to do most of this list?
4-5 days comfortably. Our Boracay Itinerary lays out how to actually sequence it.
