Venustas sent me a heated jacket and heated gloves, and Elizabeth a heated vest. This post will focus on the men’s heated jacket.

I took the heated jacket on it’s inaugural trip down the Kenai Peninsula for the Anchorage Bowl Chamber Orchestra tour. Late spring and early summer still bring an occasional freeze overnight in Alaska, especially if you’re at any altitude. This trip took us to Cooper Landing, Homer and Soldotna with late evenings and early morning temperatures in the 30’s Farenheit.Naturally, I forgot to read the manual and was a bit confused about the different colors on the heated men’s jacket. The dual control jacket has two buttons, one for the front and the other for the back, that part is self-explanatory. When you hold the button down it slowly blinks red at first indicating that it’s heating up. But then if you click the button again it cycles through a low, medium and high setting. I found myself using the lowest setting to stay nice and toasty.

The puffy itself is quite warm and traps the heat from the heating system nicely. Most of the time I wore the jacket I didn’t need the heating system and a few times after using it I noticed lingering heat through the coils. There are 6 heating zones left & right chest, left & right shoulder, mid-back and collar.
I keep calling it a heated men’s jacket but my blue puffy is really a unisex heated jacket with dual controls. When Elizabeth saw the color and coziness she was immediately jealous! But don’t worry, she really enjoys her heated vest and that review is coming soon! My heated jacket comes with a nice hood and in a variety of colors. I wear a large and the Venustas sizing guide is easy to follow; I was able to measure my own dimensions at home and got the perfect fit. If you generally wear size L jackets in America that a large Venustas jacket will be the right fit for you too.
The battery pack boasts 5000mAh and is the same as a USB battery pack making it TSA friendly! Waking up the first morning the battery pack was still at over 90% and after 4 days of usage it only got down to 68% battery. The battery pack doubles as a portable battery pack for USB charging as well.
I especially enjoyed the heating elements turning my pockets into cozy containers. It’s just like having a handwarmer in my pocket but I don’t have to worry about it getting too hot!
My second trip with the Venustas heated jacket was to Denali National Park. I camped on the Denali Highway with my friends Brett & Tim and we woke at 5:00AM to bike the Denali Park Road. It was a crisp 38F morning and I immediately donned my Venustas heated men’s jacket. This time I clicked into the highest setting and started sweating before lowering it. In the future, I think I’ll reserve the highest settings for chilly winter nights.
My phone was having a hard time charging in the car on this trip so I pulled the battery pack out of my jacket and charged my phone overnight waking to a phone at 100% and battery pack with plenty of juice left to keep me warm.
My heated jacket came with a convenient packing cube. I love the tagline Live Without Limits and look forward to using this heated puffy jacket at ski races and on cold dog walks this winter in Alaska!
My only complaint is that the battery pack on the men’s heated jacket has a digital display can be ambiguous at certain intervals. I woke up the second morning of using it to charge my phone at night thinking I had 81% remaining but quickly discovered it to be at 18% instead. There are a few other numbers that could get confused when upside down but otherwise it was very nice to have a precise battery read out. I’ll have to pay more attention next time..
Venustas heated jackets can be machine washed or hand washed but should be hung dry. I don’t typically wash my jackets anyway and I imagine I would just hand wash and spot clean if needed.
