First vacation booked!

by Mr Mike

I just booked my New Years Eve plans.  I know its far in advance but flights were going up and hostels are already sold out!  Not to mention vacations are a luxury in my first year since I only get 2 weeks off (plus a few long weekends and random days) my first year so I’m making sure to take advantage of the week I get for New Years Eve!

I’ll be flying to Boracay Island in the Philippines where I’m meeting up with my good friends Josh and Christine Golub.  All I know this far in advance is that I’m in a hostel for a few days while they are off adventuring on another island and might be staying at their hotel or the hostel for the rest of the week.  After they arrive we’ll be exploring the luxurious white beaches and the water sports of Boracay together.  I”m sure we’ll be toasting with new made friends as we celebrate the new year!

Thanks! Yeah it’ll be nice especially since I won’t make it back home for a while.

Going to Boracay is always a safe bet to have fun! I have some tips and reviews on what-to-dos on my blog that you may find useful, so come drop by anytime.

Thanks rodmapada! I think I’ll definitely check out Ariel’s point and watersports. You’ve got some great info on there. Do you recommend island hopping at all from Boracay?

Actually, I’ve never tried island hppping in Boracay due to time constraints (both of my visits were short ones; 3 days each). But if you have the time, I think it’s gonna be worthwhile. Island hopping can be very fun, especially with groups. 😀

I’m flying solo for my first 2 days there but then have 2 friends joining me for New Years Eve the rest of the week afterwards. They will be coming from a handful of different islands but I was just thinking how cool it would be to take a boat around the island. I know I definitely want to get a glimpse of Boracay from farther out than I can swim and hope to take some sweet photos while I’m there.

You can do paraw-sailing if you’re going solo. Or you can join other groups on bigger boats (paraws are much smaller than other boats for island hopping).
